I have a variety of hobbies including mountain biking, taking long walks in nature, reading, watching great films and studying Oriental and General Philosophy. I moved to Blowing Rock permanently in January of this year (just in time to enjoy my first Nor’easter!). I live with my wife Catherine and stepson Kyle (age13). I also have two children, Max (24), who is currently completing his Masters at the University of Minnesota, Mankato and Gracie (16 going on 30!), whose interests include Tudor history and hard-core knitting!
Catherine, General Manager
I am a BIG Chicago Blackhawks fan and enjoy nature as well as watching my 13-year-old son Kyle play soccer. I love to cook and am always checking out the Food Network to find new recipes and re-create some of my Chicago restaurant favorites. In my new role at Be Natural Market, I will continue to actively seek new ways of driving the ECRS POS system to further serve the needs of Be Natural Market and its customers while also overseeing the day-to-day operations as its General Manager.
Caitlin, Marketing Manager
I grew up on a rural country farm in Stokes County, NC where I learned to appreciate and honor the world around me from my parents. After living at the beach for five years and earning a degree in Environmental Studies from UNC Wilmington, I moved to Boone in 2014 to enjoy the outdoors and experience the mountain life. My weekends are spent kayaking, playing disc golf, and spending as much time outside as possible!

Olivia, Associate Manager, Wellness
Originally from Louisiana, I moved to Boone when I was a teenager and found my true home to be in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I am a graduate from Appalachian State University, with my Bachelors Degree in Health Promotion. My passion is to spread information about living a healthy, happy and natural lifestyle. My free time is mainly spent on the parkway with my boyfriend and our 3 fur-babies, 2 German Shepherds and a Siberian Husky.
Sara, Wellness Consultant
I was born and raised in Watauga County, and currently attend Caldwell Community College. I plan on perusing school at Appalachian State University to get a Heath Promotion and Nutrition degree. In my spare time I love to go hiking and camping with my two dogs and my hobbies would be fermenting, canning, gardening and learning about nature.
Hannah, Wellness Consultant
I’m originally from Charlotte and I moved to the mountains to go to Appalachian State. I am a Nutrition and Dietetics Major with a clinical focus. I love doing creative work such as knitting, drawing, painting and sculpting. I also enjoy the outdoors and going on hikes in my spare time.
Tena, Wellness Consultant
I moved to Boone in 2003 with my husband, Bob, when he accepted a teaching position at ASU. We feel so fortunate to live in such a beautiful natural environment with our two dogs, Abbie and Sadie. We have been vegetarians, and supportive of natural foods and alternative healing modalities for as long as we have been married, 36 years. I enjoy sharing with those that are interested in learning about: a plant-based whole foods diet, raw foods, enzymes, cleansing, and colon health. I have also found great fulfillment in being a functional potter for the past 25 years.
Taylor, Customer Service
While I’m originally from Detroit, I moved to Boone from Greenville, NC in October of 2014 after my girlfriend started college at App State. Before coming to Boone I worked at a film studio and for my family’s business sweeping parking lots, doing landscaping, and shredding documents. But now since I call Boone home, Bare Essentials has opened my eyes to the wide world of whole foods, since I was vegetarian growing up. I enjoy riding my bike around town and cooking. My favorite thing about Boone is how much it reminds me of Traverse City, Michigan.
Chris, Customer Service
I am from Huntersville, NC currently in Boone attending App State University. I am a creative writing major that just started working at Be Natural Market. In my free time I like to write stories and perform with my acapella group Higher Ground, of which I am the Vice President. I have worked at a large grocery store before but I am excited to be a part of the Be Natural Family!
Kat, Customer Service, Bulk and Produce
I moved here in Summer 2016 to study acupuncture at Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine in Sugar Grove. I moved from the Pacific Northwest where I had lived for the past 6 years, working on organic farms and in the produce section of a local natural food store in Eugene, OR. I have a deep appreciation for the natural world and our interrelated connection with it and each other, and so consider myself a student of healing systems and world views that build upon that holistic framework. In my spare time I like learning about all things plants – especially herbal and dietary medicine, exploring forests, playing with cats (and goats when I am lucky enough to be around them), and learning the kamancheh – a Persian string instrument.
